Dr. Gregory Gene McGowan is a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience in clinical psychiatry, forensic mental health, and emergency medicine. He is dedicated to providing thorough, evidence-based psychiatric care with a strong focus on patient safety, diagnostic accuracy, and compassionate treatment.

Dr. McGowan earned his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he also served as Chief Resident. His background reflects a unique and well-rounded foundation, including prior experience as a physician assistant, paramedic, and emergency medical services instructor.

Throughout his career, Dr. McGowan has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including state hospitals, correctional mental health systems, and inpatient psychiatric units. He served for many years as a forensic psychiatrist at Patton State Hospital, where he conducted psychiatric evaluations and contributed to the care of complex patient populations.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. McGowan has held academic roles as an adjunct clinical professor and has contributed as an expert witness in psychiatric cases, including evaluations for legal proceedings. His areas of expertise include psychiatric assessment, forensic psychiatry, and the treatment of serious mental illness.
