Diego Centeno is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan. He is passionate about mental health and committed to helping patients achieve meaningful progress through individualized, evidence-based treatment.
Diego earned his Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. He also completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the California State University, Long Beach program and began his nursing education at Cypress College.
In his current role as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Diego conducts comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, performs mental status examinations, and develops accurate diagnoses based on clinical findings. He creates individualized treatment plans that include medication management and psychotherapy, while also educating patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
Diego’s clinical background also includes experience as a registered nurse in emergency and acute care settings. He has worked in fast-paced environments where he developed strong skills in patient triage, crisis assessment, and managing complex medical and psychiatric conditions. His experience includes identifying high-risk situations such as suicidal or homicidal ideation and providing appropriate intervention and support.
Fluent in Spanish, Diego is able to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations and provide culturally sensitive care. He is known for his collaborative approach and works closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality treatment.
